Knowledge Transfer Evening on Out–Wintering Brassicas to take place in Wales

How to measure dry matter production and maximise the utilisation of brassicas will be part of Germinal’s knowledge transfer evening 1st May in Builth Wells.

The event will offer advice on how to make best use of a range of brassica fodder crops and open discussion with Germinal staff and farmers successfully using brassica forage crops for outwintering.

“We’ll give an overview of the various out–wintering options that brassicas offer, including expected dry matter yields, key points around establishment and how best to utilise the crops,” says Germinal GB Product Development Manager Felicity Lenyk.

“This will include detail on forage budgeting, to enable farmers to calculate what is available to feed”.

“We’ll also reveal results from a number of farm studies we ran in through the winter of 2018, where we’ve measured the relative nutritional value of stem and leaf material in different crop types and varieties. This is providing new information that is allowing better control of stocking rates and improved utilisation.”

Evening refreshments will be provided at the event, which will begin at 7pm at the Greyhound Hotel, 3 Garth Rd, Builth Wells LD2 3AR
